2015 LCS Spring Promotion Tournament – Schedule Revealed!

July 23rd, 2014

Head of eSports at Riot, Nick Allen has revealed their plans for the 2015 promotion tournament, who leaves and joins the LCS is yet to be discovered. Both EU and NA teams will head out to the LCS Studio in Los Angeles to try and qualify for next year’s Spring Split. That said, he’s also stated plans to increase the number of LCS teams to 10, from 8, yet we don’t know how those extra two teams will be added. Like always,  the bottom three LCS teams will play to keep their spot, while the top three Challenger teams from the Challenger series will face them. For those that don’t know, the 6th place team chooses out of the three amateur squads who they’ll face, the 7th place team gets second pick out of the two remaining, and 8th is stuck with whoever is left. When the challenger series in both regions conclude, teams will pick and have time to prepare adequately for their opponents. It’s speculated that the other two spots will be filled by two teams that lose during the promotion tournament, however we don’t actually know.   This year compared to last year’s tournament, is in September, rather than all the way down in December. This allows challenger teams to know whether or not they’ll be in the LCS sooner rather than later, and without preseason patches. That itself is a bit of a curve ball, and luckily Riot has removed it. If teams know sooner, they can more easily plan out their next moves, and whether to stay and compete in the Challenger Series or unfortunately, disband.   Schedule: Tuesday 9th of September: 10 AM PDT/ 7 PM GMT: EU 8th Seed Promotion Match 3 PM PDT/ 12 AM GMT: NA 6th Seed Promotion Match Wednesday 10th of September: 10 AM PDT/ 7 PM GMT: EU 7th Seed Promotion Match 3 PM PDT/ 12 AM GMT: NA 7th Seed Promotion Match Thursday 11th of September: 10 AM PDT/ 7 PM GMT: EU 6th Seed Promotion Match 3 PM PDT/ 12 AM GMT: NA 8th Seed Promotion Match   Follow newsoflegends.com for more coverage on eSports, and LoL as a whole.
