The offseason roster dance has already begun in the latest round of changes. With the Summer Split just a few weeks away, teams are looking to do whatever they can to ensure their success in the second half of Season 5.

After leaving the team to join Elements, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson is set to re-join team Fnatic, replacing current Fnatic AD Carry Pierre “Steeelback” Medjaldi. Steelback will compete with the team at the Mid-Season Invitational, with Rekkles taking over the starting position shortly after in preparation for the Summer Split.

Following his departure from team Roccat last month, Titus “Ducky” Hafner has found a new home in the newest addition to to the EU LCS, Team Origen. Qualifying to the LCS via the Summer Promotion Tournament with only the feedback of analysts, Ducky will assume the Head Coach position under a trial period lasting through the first week of the LCS Summer Split.

Ducky official statement on joining Origen:

Hey!
So today we decided to announce that im currently being tested for the coaching position of Origen!

After I left ROCCAT, I looked for a new team and chose to support Origen for their promotion series against CWA. Everybody agreed afterwards, that we should continue working together.

However, since Coaches are measured by sucess and ROCCAT had a very poor season, it’s understandable, that they want to take their time to test my input and abilities and make sure I’m a good fit for the team. Therefore I will be supporting them until the first week of LCS and the decision if I stay will be made based on the work, that I have done to this point.

Regardless of the past and the upcoming decision, I will remain dedicated to coaching, as it is a field that is very underdeveloped and needs dedicated people to grow.

Wish me good luck.

Official Announcement

To round things out, Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels, the most recent support player of Elements, has announced that he will be retiring, effective immediately. Citing a lack of enthusiasm and wishing to pursue a career in analysis and casting, Krepo had this to say:

All good things come to an end. Lately I found myself having a little less fun with the game. Looking back i’m having a hard time finding 3 consecutive days where i’ve been truely happy in the last few months. Hell, i’ve been getting salty and even a tad toxic in soloqueue as of late. Most of it stemming from the fact that I care a lot about winning & playing the game correctly, but I think i’ve gone too far in that mindset sometimes. I’ve always said the moment playing this game stops being fun and feels like a grind, i’ll retire. And i think that moment has finally come.
