TONGUE LASH Q

Tung Lash Final IconTongue Lash [ Q ]

Cost: 50 mana at all ranks || Range: 800 || Cooldown: 6 seconds

Tahm Kench lashes out his tongue, dealing 80/115/150/185/220 [+0.7 AP] magic damage to the first enemy hit and slowing them by 50/55/60/65/70% for 2 seconds. If the target has 3 stacks of Tahm Kench’s passive, it will instead be stunned for 1.5 seconds.

If Devour [ W ] is cast while the tongue is still travelling, the spell will devour the first minion or monster hit.

DEVOUR W

Devour Final IconDevour [ W ]

Cost: 90 Mana || Range: 250 || Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 seconds

Devours a target enemy for 4/4.5/5/5.5/6 seconds (halved duration for enemy Champions), dealing 20/23/26/29/32% [+2% per 100 AP] of their maximum Health as magic damage. Maximum damage to monsters is capped at 400/450/500/550/600.

If cast on an allied champion, Tahm Kench gains 30/35/40/45/50% bonus Movement Speed while holding that champion and moving towards an enemy champion. Tahm gains half the movespeed value if he’s not moving toward an enemy champion, or 15/17.5/20/22.5/25%.

If cast on a minion or monster, Tahm Kench can reactive the spell to spit them out, dealing 100/150/200/250/300 [+ 0.6 AP] magic damage to all target hit.

Enemy champions can only be devoured when Tahm Kench has 3 stacks of his passive on them and he is slowed by 95% for the duration of the spell.

Passive: If Thick Skin is not on cooldown, any damage Tahm Kench takes fills up a gray health bar. If the bar starts decaying, it will start healing him.

Active: Converts Tahm Kench’s gray health bar to a shield that lasts 6 seconds. The shield loses value over the duration.

Abyssal Voyage Banner

Abyssal Voyage Final IconAbyssal Voyage [ R ]

Cost: 100 Mana || Range: 4000 || Cooldown: 160/130/100 seconds

Passive: Tahm Kench’s basic attacks and damage spells deal an additional 20 + 4/5/6% of Tahm Kench’s bonus Health as magic damage.

Active: Tahm Kench channels for up to 15 seconds. Throughout the duration, any allied Champion can click on Tahm Kench and be absorbed by him. Tahm Kench and his ally will then travel to target area on the map. If an enemy Champion deals damage to Tahm Kench during the channel, the spell will be interrupted. Tahm Kench can re-cast the spell during the channel to travel alone.

“The whole world’s a river, and I’m its king.”

The singularly charming gourmand savors every moment of his victims’ suffering.  A deal with Two-Coats may carry you to wherever you wish, but your journey will most assuredly end in the depths of despair.

Group A Worlds Banner

 Welcome to a co-op series where Tim and I will cover all four World groups and what new picks we can expect in each one. We aim to get the series wrapped up before Worlds so we can focus on coverage of the matches. Enjoy the read!

Edward Gaming Banner

 Ban Yasuo. Those words held true in every game of the LPL Regional Qualifiers and Summer playoffs that featured EDG as teams took the swordsman completely out of the picture. With 5 different picks in the mid lane across 12 games, U has shown he can definitely play around his team’s apparent dislike of the wanderer.

 Of these picks, Kayle came out for three of EDG’s matches. While Kayle remains strong despite her most-recent nerfs, she has definitely fallen out of flavor.  Her most recent revival usually comes paired with a Zilean, creating an incredibly frustrating team comp centered around an undying carry. U has shown that he will play her with or without the Chronokeeper.

 Kayle’s strengths come in droves. Amazing waveclear, great up-front damage, massive utility in the form of a heal and movespeed boost, and an ultimate that can make or break teamfights. There’s less countering Kayle and more just dealing with her, something that becomes incredibly tricky once a match gets to late-game.

 When Kayle and Zilean get together, it’s like divine Intervention. Allowing unlimited dive opportunities, Kayle and the rest of her team can wreak havoc in the front line safely under the protection of Chrono Shift and Intervention. The pair also prevents a champion from just being dived on and exploded, and can force their opponents to think hard about who they want to focus and when they want to fight.

 There are a Zilean possibilities, will the opposition be prepared?

Westdoor Banner

 AHQ’s Westdoor is known for his constant aggression. Expect all eyes to be on the mid lane as he looks to get his team out ahead early. Kassadin and Twisted Fate were almost permanently banned against Westdoor in the GPL and it shouldn’t be much different on the world stage. AHQ depends heavily on their mid laner, and acquiring a comfort pick for Westdoor is a must for them. Keeping Fizz in the back pocket is surely on the agenda, especially looking at his dominating performance on the trickster in the past.

 Fizz brings deadly assassin strength to a team, being able to dash in with Urchin Strike and deal massive burst damage, only to disappear unscathed with a cleverly placed Playful/Trickster. Chum the Waters offers great disruption and zoning potential in a teamfight, forcing players to retreat or fight around its AOE knockup. It’s also a death sentence for anyone caught out of position, which can help AHQ create picks and secure objectives.

 Not to say the Trickster is without flaws. Limited siege ability can set Fizz’s team behind if they’re unable to start a fight. Also an issue is getting to the backline to hunt for carries. If the enemy team sees Fizz, they can center their comp around peeling for their carry and easily counter his strengths. Lastly, Fizz is a risky laner; if he’s facing a poor lane match-up, he can easily fall behind – worst-case scenario for a champion who must be ahead to have a real impact on the game.

 AHQ enters the World Championship as underdogs, and other teams will definitely have heard of Westdoor. With a reputation for clutch plays and snowballing games, letting Westdoor get any of these champions is definitely a mistake. Therein lies the largest issue: lack of diversity. While he has shown he can fall back onto popular champions like Yasuo, Westdoor’s greatest strengths come from familiarity. Teams will either look to ban him out, or prepare strategies specifically tailored to his champion pool.

 Will AHQ adapt, or will they FIZZle out?

Dandy Rammus Banner

 Though he dominates solo queue, Rammus is a rare sight on the competitive scene; OGN Masters saw him once in a favorable match-up against Xin Zhao and Wickd rolled his way to victory at the end of summer LCS in a zer0-stake match against Millenium, but that’s all the pro action League’s armordillo saw this year. Despite odds, it seems DanDy has been racking some Rammus games in Solo Queue and with great success. Can we expect to see a tanky jungler sneak his way past Lee Sin? Certainly, he is blind.

 The meta across regions right now favors stall comps that rely on picks to get objectives and push for map control. Rammus fits the bill with his Sonic Ball and a 2-second taunt. He’s great at locking down and soloing the currently popular hypercarries or peeling bruisers from his carries. Being the best tower-diver in the game, Rammus can capitalize on a pushed lane better than almost any other jungler. His slow clear speed means he loses significant gank pressure in the early game, but that can be off-set by just going for safer laners and stalling until Rammus can become that beast of a frontliner and initiator.

  In the hands of DanDy, Rammus is a snowball machine. DanDy is the one who sets the pace for White’s matches by constantly being in the mind of the enemy jungler and predicting his moves. A Rammus counter-gank is deadly, as it can come from very far away and with guaranteed hard CC. We already know how strong DanDy is at smite-stealing objectives – put that mechanical skill on a rolling ball and you’ve got dragon control covered against all but the top-seed teams. Best part? No one plays or bans Rammus, meaning DanDy always has a surprise pick for when his team faces serious challenge (at the finals).

 Ultimately, a pocket pick doesn’t matter much for White at this point, as they can likely blindfold themselves, go all mid and still stomp their group.

dark passage banner

No data on DP’s Solo Queue training and their Wildcard matches suggest they’d like to go standard at Worlds. If they are bringing new picks against the top teams, they’ve yet to grant viewers passage to their strategy.

  • Armor:21.5 (+2.5-per-level)
  • Magic Resist:30

Rage Gene [ Passive ]

While in combat Gnar generates Fury. At maximum Fury, his next ability will transform him into Mega Gnar, granting increased survivability and access to new spells.

Boomerang Throw / Boulder Toss [ Q ]

Range: 1100 || Cooldown: 20/17.5/15/12.5/10 seconds

Mini Gnar: Throws a boomerang that deals 10 / 45 / 80 / 115 / 150 (+ 1.0 AD) physical damage and slows Movement Speed by 15/20/25/30/35% for 2 seconds before returning towards Gnar. Enemies hit beyond the first take 50% damage.

The returning boomerang will accelerate and can travel up to 2000 units. If Gnar catches it, the cooldown of Boomerang Throw is reduced by 60%.

Mega Gnar: Throws a boulder that stops when it hits an enemy, slowing all nearby enemies and dealing 10/50/90/130/170 (+) physical damage.

Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds. If Gnar picks up his boulder, the cooldown of Boulder Toss is reduced by 60%.

Hyper / Wallop [ W ]

Mini Gnar: Passive: Every 3rd attack or spell on the same target deals an additional 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 (+ 1.0 AP) + 6/8/10/12/14% of max HP as magic damage and grants Gnar 30% Movement Speed that decays over 3 seconds (max 75/125/175/225/275 damage vs. monsters). Gnar gains Hyper’s speed bonus whenever he turns from Big to Small.

Mega Gnar: Stuns enemies in an area for 1.25 seconds, dealing 25 / 45 / 65 / 85 / 105 (+ 1.0 AD) physical damage.

Hop / Crunch [ E ]

Range: 475  || Cooldown: 18/16.5/15/13.5/12 seconds

Mini Gnar: Leaps to a location, gaining 20/30/40/50/60% Attack Speed for 3 seconds. If Gnar lands on a unit he will bounce off of it, traveling further. Deals 20 / 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 (+ 6% of Gnar’s max HP) physical damage and slows briefly if the unit landed on was an enemy.

Mega Gnar: Leaps to a location and deals 20 / 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 (+ 6% of Gnar’s max HP) physical damage to all nearby enemies on landing. Enemies Gnar lands directly on top of are slowed briefly.

If Crunch is the ability used to trigger the Rage Gene, Gnar will still be able to perform Hop’s bounce. Gnar will apply Crunch’s area of effect both upon hopping from a unit and upon hitting the ground, although enemies can only be damaged once.

GNAR! [ R ]

Range: 590 || Cooldown: 120/100/80 seconds

Mini Gnar: Passive: Increases Hyper’s Movement Speed bonus to 45/60/75%.

Mega Gnar: Knocks all nearby enemies in the specified direction, dealing 200 / 300 / 400 (+ 0.2 bonus AD) physical damage and slowing them by 45% for 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds. Any enemy that hits a wall takes 300 / 450 / 600 (+ 0.3 bonus AD) physical damage and is stunned for 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 seconds.

Lore

“The jungle does not forgive blindness. Every broken branch tells a story.

I’ve hunted every creature this jungle has to offer. I was certain there were no challenges left here, but now there is something new. Each track is the size of a tusklord; its claws like scimitars. It could rend a man in half. Finally, worthy prey.

As I stalk my prize through the jungle, I begin to see the damage this thing has wrought. I step into a misshapen circle of splintered trees. These giant wooden sentinels have stood over this land for countless ages, their iron-like hides untouched by the flimsy axes of anyone foolish enough to attempt to cut them down. This thing brushed them aside like they were twigs.

How can a creature with this level of strength disappear so easily? And yet, even though it has left this unmistakable trail of destruction, I have been unable to lay my eye upon it. How can it appear like a hurricane then fade into the jungle like the morning mist?

I thrill in anticipation of finally standing before this creature. It will make a tremendous trophy.

Passing through the clearing, I follow the sound of a stream to get my bearings once more. There I see a small shock of orange fur, crouching, waiting. I spy on it from a distance. A tiny fish splashes out of the stream and the creature scrambles for it, diving gleefully into the rushing water. To my joy, I realize it’s a yordle. And a hunter, at that!

This is a good omen. The beast will be found. Nothing will escape me.

The yordle’s large ears perk up and face towards me. He runs on all fours with a bone boomerang in hand, quickly stopping in front of me. He babbles.

I nod in appreciation at the young yordle and venture onwards. I traverse the difficult terrain with ease, trying to pick up any sign of my quarry. As I try to pick up his scent, a distraction. I’m startled by strange chittering. The yordle followed me. I cannot allow him to disrupt my hunt. I face him and point into the distance. He looks at me quizzically. I need to be more insistent, good omen or no.

I rear back and let out a roar, the wind whipping the yordle’s fur and the ground rumbling beneath us. After a few short seconds, he turns his head and, with what I think could be a smile, he holds up his small boomerang. There can be no further delay. I snatch the weapon out of his hand and expertly throw it into a tree, impaling it high amongst the branches. He turns and scrambles for it, jumping frantically.

I barely get ten paces when a roar shakes me to my very spine. The deafening crack of stone and wood echoes all around. Ahead, a giant tree crashes across my path. The bone weapon of the yordle juts out from its trunk.

An unearthly growl rises behind me.

I’ve made a terrible mistake.”
